Celebrating the Centenary of Canberra

The Spinning, Dyeing and Weaving Sub-Section at the 2013 ActewAGL Royal Canberra Show offers a range of classes to enter for those who enjoy using their imagination and skills to create unique items in these categories!

What Classes can be entered in the Spinning, Dyeing & Weaving Sub-Section? 

Open to all ages are the following challenges:

  • Any article depicting your interpretation of ‘Celebrating the Centenary of Canberra’
  • Great Canberra Scarf Competition
    The Great Canberra Scarf Competition, sponsored by Galifrey Alpaca Textiles, provides the opportunity for spinning, dyeing & weaving enthusiasts to use their creativity and imagination to make a scarf reflecting the theme of ‘Centenary of Canberra’.
  • STUDENT 18 Years and under
    Any article made by the student entrant in either Spinning or Weaving.
  • Try your hand at producing a variety of ‘ART YARNS’

To see the range of other classes you can enter, refer to the Crafts Expo Schedule. The classes are divided into Spinning, Dyeing, Handspun garments & articles, Weaving and before Weaving.

To cater for all levels of experience and ability in these categories, there are competitive classes for non professional exhibitors (have less than 2 years experience), non professionals (with more than 2 years experience) and professionals.

What’s Next?

Start your spinning, dyeing or weaving creations! 

Have your entry form submitted by 14 December 2012 (refer Crafts Expo Schedule 2013) and then deliver your creative works on the due date in February 2013.

Then come along to the ActewAGL Royal Canberra Show 2013 to see how your entries have fared, to perhaps be part of the demonstration team and join us in celebrating the Centenary of Canberra!

** DOG MANAGEMENT POLICY **

No dogs are permitted except for registered Guide or Assistance Dogs.
If you bring a dog, you will be asked to leave.
Your entries will be cancelled and there will be NO refund given.

** CAR PARKING POLICY **

Unauthorised vehicles are not permitted to park on the grounds.
Any vehicles on the grounds will be asked to move or will be referred to security.
