Synopsis of Qualifying Conditions/Criteria

  • In all single varietal classes, not less than 85% of the wine shall be of the
    specified variety. (Regulation 1.a) iii)
  • A wine can be entered only once. (Regulation 1.b)
  • Wines need not necessarily be bottled on the day of entry but must come from
    run commercially bottled before their dispatch for judging.
  • Tank samples, if detected, will be disqualified.

Qualifying Conditions

  • Award requirements (Regulation 3) Classes 1 to 15: Gold, Silver or Bronze. Classes 16 to 30: Gold or Silver.
  • Award not necessarily in current year.
  • Not necessarily mature wines.
  • Commercial name of present or future release must be given for inclusion in the Catalogue of Results. Name to conform exactly with any label on the bottle.
  • Number of entries per class per exhibitor - no limit
  • Number of bottles per entry - four (4).
  • Class 8 (Rosé) not eligible for consideration in Open Trophies (Regulation 13).

Quantity: 500 dozen 750ml or equivalent bottles.

Qualification: Classes 1 to 15: Gold, Silver or Bronze (see regulation 3 for details of eligible shows)

9. 2006 Dry Red - Pinot noir

10. 2006 Dry Red - Merlot

11. 2006 Dry Red - Cabernet Sauvignon

12. 2006 Dry Red - Shiraz

13. 2006 Dry Red - Shiraz Viognier. Must have a minimum of 1% Viognier

14. 2006 Dry Red - Grenache or Mourvedre or blends thereof with or without Shiraz; not less than 30% of the wine shall comprise either Grenache or Mourvedre. Predominant varieties must be stated on entry form

15. 2006 Dry Red – Wines ineligible for classes 9 to 14 inclusive. Predominant variety must be on entry form

Quantity:  500 dozen 750ml or equivalent bottles.

Blended wines containing 85% or more of a single variety must be entered in a varietal class where available, except classes 13 and 28 Shiraz Viognier.

Museum Classes Classes 31-34 White and Red - 2002 and older vintages

Synopsis/criteria:

  • Awards not necessary.
  • Mature wines, possibly with potential for further maturation.
  • Not necessarily commercial wines.
  • If commercial name is given this will be included in the Catalogue of Results. Name to conform exactly with any label on the bottle.
  • Number of entries per class per exhibitor - no limit.
  • Number of bottles per entry: three (3) 750 ml or equivalent.
  • Awards not eligible for consideration in Open Trophies (Regulation 13).

Quantity: 50 dozen 700+ ml or equivalent bottles

31. Dry White - Fragrant and flowery varieties or blends, Riesling, Traminer, Frontignan, etc. but excluding Sauvignon blanc and Verdelho

32. Dry White - Soft fruity and flinty varieties or blends

Premium Trophy Section Classes 35-38 2005 and Older Vintages

Synopsis/criteria:

  • Not less than 85% of the wine shall be of the specified variety.

  • Commercial name must be given for inclusion in the Catalogue of Results. Name to conform exactly with any label on the bottle.
  • Bottles to be commercially labelled if commercially released.
  • Awards won in the Special Section are not eligible for consideration in
    open Trophies (Regulation 13).
  • Only Gold Awards will be shown in the Catalogue of Results.
  • Number of entries per class - no limit.
  • Number of bottles per entry: four (4) 750 ml or equivalent.

Classes 35-38- Qualification: Gold award winning wines only (see Regulation 3 for details of eligible shows)

Quantity: 100 dozen 750ml or equivalent bottles - bottled wines only.

Catalogue: Only Gold medals records in Catalogue of Results

  • Classes 39 to 41 and 44 to 45: any vintage.
  • Awards not necessary.
  • All wines to be named commercial wines, future, current or past releases.
  • Commercial name must be given for inclusion in the Catalogue of Results
    - Name to conform exactly with any label on the bottle.
  • Wines only from a run commercially bottled before dispatch for judging.
  • Total volume need not be bottled at time of entry; however exhibits submitted for judging must be from a run.
  • Not necessarily labelled nor commercially released.
  • If commercial labels are available, bottles should be labelled.
  • Bottles to be commercially labelled if commercially released.
  • Number of entries per class per exhibitor: one (1).
  • Number of bottles per entry: four (4) 750 ml or equivalent.
