1. CRITERIA
a) All classes are open to Winemakers and Distillers according
to the conditions applicable to each class; similarly all classes
are open to merchants. All exhibits must:
- Conform to the respective Acts of the States and the Commonwealth
of Australia which govern the production of Australian Wine and
Australian Brandy, ie. the Customs and Excise Act and Regulations,
the Spirit Act and Regulations, the Health Act and Regulations
and, similarly, New Zealand Wines must conform with current Acts
applicable in New Zealand.
- Be the produce of solely Australian grapes or solely New Zealand
grapes or blended from solely Australian or New Zealand grapes.
- In all single varietal classes, contain not less than 85%
of wine of the specified variety.
b) A Wine can be entered only once irrespective of the number
of Trade Labels and awards received by the wine during the current
year or past years. It is not necessary that wines entered should
have received the award in the current year.
c) Classes 1 – 53 open to commercially bottled wines only.
TOP 2. ACCEPTANCE/REJECTION
The Wine Show Committee reserves the right to accept
or reject any entry, to question exhibitors on details of entries
and to
change entries to a more appropriate class.
TOP 3. AWARD REQUIREMENTS
a) Award Wines - Only wines can be entered that have been bottled
at the time of receiving a:
- Gold, Silver or Bronze award at an Australian Capital City
Wine show or the New Zealand Wine Society Royal Easter Wine Show
or the Wine Institute of New Zealand’s Air New Zealand Wine
Awards - exceptions being for:
Classes 15 to 28, where only Gold and Silver awards apply
Classes 33 to 36, where only Gold awards apply or:
- For district regional wines only, a Gold award at the
Australian Inland, Australian Small Winemakers, Ballarat, Barossa,
Canberra Regional Wine Show, Clare Valley Regional, Cowra, Griffith,
Hunter Valley, Lilydale, Limestone Coast, McLaren Vale, Mount
Barker, Mudgee, Riverland, Rutherglen or Victorian Wines (Seymour)
Wine Shows. Other than regional wines need to qualify through
preceding Clause 3.a)i.
- For the 2007 Show and onwards, only awards from Australian
Capital City Wine shows or the New Zealand Wine Society Royal
Easter Wine Show or the Wine Institure of New Zealand's Air New
Zealand Wine Awards will qualify for entry.
Such award winning wines can be entered in any appropriate class
in The Vintage Cellars National Wine Show of Australia™
provided only that the quantity meets the requirements of this
schedule.
b) Non-award winning wines may be entered in Museum and Commercial
classes.
c) Award not necessarily in the current year.

BOTTLES
a) Capsules
Bottles should not have capsules (except for pilfer-proof ones
and possibly fortified wines).
b) Labels
- Exhibits must have the supplied Wine Show labels attached
to the bottles and must show;
- the number of the class entered
- the type of wine
- when more than one entry in any one class, the distinguishing
number (1,2, etc.) of each entry. Within the class the number
to conform to that on the
application for entry (Regulation 6 a) ii)
- year of vintage, when applicable and
- name of Exhibitor
- Bottles should bear the commercial label under which the wine
is or was marketed in addition to the Wine Show label.
- Premium and Commercial Classes. When labels are available
wines should be labelled.
c) Number of Bottles (700 +ml) per entry

5. ENTRY FEES
a) Entries shall not be accepted unless accompanied by fees.
b) $90.00 per entry.
c) No fee for brandy classes 72 & 73.
d) Entry fees are not refundable.

6. ENTRY FORMS
a) Entries must be submitted on forms supplied by the Wine Show
for the purpose, or, when necessary, on fair copies of the
form. Exhibitors must state on the
application form for entry;
- The class number being entered.
- If more that one entry in any one class, the exhibitor's distinguishing
number (1,2, etc.).
- Year of vintage when applicable.
- Commercial name of the wine when applicable.
- Type of wine.
- The predominant grape varieties (with percentages) where applicable.
- The quantity of stock held (or the minimum requirement for the
class).
- Details of one acceptable award (preferably the last relevant
award) won by the wine.
b) All wines entered in the Premium and Commercial Classes to
be named on the entry form (exactly as per the commercial label)
for inclusion
of the
name
in the Catalogue of Results. TOP
7. NUMBER OF ENTRIES PER EXHIBITOR IN ANY ONE CLASS
a) Award wines: No limit on the number of award winning wines
entered in Premium classes.
b) Commercial classes; limited to one entry per class per
exhibitor.

8. PACKING AND DISPATCH
a) If more than one entry per class, number the wines 1,
2 etc. per Regulation 6.a) ii:
- Send only full cartons. Add empty bottles as necessary.
- Pack entries with those class numbers close to
one another in the same carton.
- Please mark carton with classes packed in each
case.
b) Exhibits to be delivered to the R.N.C.A.S., Building Z, Exhibition
Park In Canberra, Flemington Road, Mitchell, ACT, 2911 in cartons
properly marked to show exhibitor's name, no later than Friday, 13 October
2006 (except in the case of late entries. See regulation
9.d).
Freight on exhibits is payable by the exhibitor
prior to judging. See also note at foot of regulations.

9. TIME TABLE
a) a) Entries close: 10 September 2007.
b) b) Delivery of wines: 12 October 2007.
c) c) Wines that have won an award prior to the closing date of entries (10 September 2007) should be entered by that date and delivered by 12 October 2007
d) Late entries of the award winning wines from the approved Wine Shows (Regulation 3.) will be accepted provided that written application for entry is received within 7 working days of the relevant Show's results being announced and the wines arrive by Wednesday, 7 November 2007; that is five days before the commencement of judging.

GENERAL - Regulations 10-19
10.
ADVERTISING OF AWARDS/LOGO
No exhibitor shall advertise or allow to be advertised by any
means whatsoever, and whether by broadcasting, television, pictorially
or in writing, the fact that any exhibit has won an Award in this
show unless such advertisement shows clearly:
a) The National Wine Show (Not Canberra Wine Show)
b) Must comply with The Winemakers’ Federation Code of Practice
for the display of awards.

11. AGGREGATE POINTS
Although there is no trophy for aggregate
points, the unofficial aggregate is
based on one (the top) award per exhibitor
per class
on the 3:2:1 scale.

12. CANCELLATION OF THE SHOW FOR
ANY REASON
It is agreed between the parties that if, at the sole discretion
of the Directors or the Chief Executive Officer of the Society or
some other authorised officer, the Show is to be partially or fully
cancelled for any reason whatsoever, the exhibitor shall not pursue
the Society for the recoveries of lost income or damages. This complete
bar to an action applies to all Headings of Law, whether it be Common
Law in Contract or Tort or pursuant to any State, Territorial, or
Commonwealth Statute Law. It is acknowledged by the exhibitor that
the Society has no duty to have a Show in any particular year and
that this Clause operates as a complete defence for the Society
to any such action.

13. AWARDS & TROPHIES
a) An exhibitor may be awarded more than one award in any class.
b) Awards won in Class 8 and the Museum and Special Classes (Classes 31-38) and Sparkling Classes (52-53) are not eligible for consideration in Open Trophies.

14. DISQUALIFICATION
a) Any exhibitor breaking any regulation
may be disqualified from this and any
future Show or Shows.
b) No entry will be received from any
person disqualified by this or any
other similar Society during the period
of such disqualification.
Should any such entry be accepted it shall, when discovered, be
deemed void, and the entry fee and the exhibit shall be forfeited.
c) It should also be noted that an
entry may be disqualified
if;
- the check wine (see Regulation 18.b)
does not conform with the entered wine,
- a false claim is made for awards allegedly won at other Shows,
- the entry is not commercially bottled; tank samples, if detected,
will be disqualified,
- the quantity claimed to be produced is found to be false.

15. EXHIBITORS’ TASTING
a) Tickets
The Exhibitors’ Tasting is intended
to allow Winemakers and Wine Company
executives to assess their own results
and those of
other Exhibitors. Tickets to the Tasting, which are not transferable,
will be issued on the following basis:
Winemakers of Companies paying the
Wine Grape Levy, who have not submitted
entries to the Show. (Application must
be in writing)

Exhibitor with 1 - 14 entries 2 tickets
Exhibitor with 15 - 29 entries 4
tickets
Exhibitor with 30 or more entries 6
tickets
Holders of tickets for the Exhibitors’ Tasting
are requested to observe the object
of the Tasting, as expressed above,
and
not
make tickets available
to commercial interests or contacts. b)
Provision of Wines
To ensure that adequate quantities are
available for the Exhibitors’ and
evening tastings on 24 November 2006, Exhibitors will be requested to supply
in time for the tastings the following table and sparkling wines:
- Trophy - One dozen.
- Gold - Six (6) bottles where the wines has not won a trophy.
- Fortified and Brandy - no additional bottles required.

16. JUDGING - SYSTEM & POINTING
a) All exhibits are screened from the judges and the wines are not
poured in their presence. Glasses are not topped up for the judges
but, when required,
a new glass is poured by the stewards at the stewards’ table behind
the screen. The second glass is presented to the judge.
b) Judging will be by panels of three (3) or more judges who will
judge all wines independently. The senior member of each panel of judges
will
tally
the score and, after consultation, arrive at the final assessment of
the wines.
Judges will be screened at all times from the exhibits (and from one
another).
c) Exhibits will be judged on points out of a total of 60, and the
points received by all wines will be set out in the Catalogue of
Results except
for Special
Section classes, 33 to 36 inclusive where only gold awards will be
recorded.
d) Awards will be made by the judges on the following scale of points:
Gold Award - 55.5 points and over
Silver Award - 51 to 55 points
Bronze Award - 46.5 to 50.5 points

17. PROTESTS
a) No protest will be entertained unless made within 7 days of
the announcement of the Awards. However, it must be noted that the
decision of the judges
is final and no discussion will be entered into but the reason
for the decision will be given.

18. STOCK - VALIDATION & TEST SAMPLES
a) In all cases, the wine in stock, as stated on the application
form for entry, may be inspected and checked by a representative
or nominee
of the
Society.
Each exhibitor must supply the Society with a sealed
envelope containing the record of any sale made subsequent
to the
entries being lodged,
if such sale
has reduced the stipulated quantity below the minimum.
b) Immediately after the closing date for entries,
a draw will be made for the selection of three regions
from which
entries
by at
least three
exhibitors
will be checked. An Official appointed by the Society
(who will be an ASVO qualified auditor) shall make an inspection of the quantity of such
wines in accordance
with
the application
for
entry, and take at least one sample bottle for comparison
with the entry/ies.

19. TROPHY PRESENTATION DINNER
Wines:
The Society may request up to five (5) dozen of selected trophy or gold medal wines for the dinner. The wine selected for the dinner will need to be delivered to the Royal National Capital Agricultural Society no later than Wednesday, 21 November 2007.
